Volunteers needed for new Demelza shop in Heathfield

Storefront with green trim showing white Demelza t-shirts on a mannequin and inside; a colorful "VOLUNTEERS NEEDED" banner is displayed.

Demelza is excited to announce it has secured premises for a new shop in Heathfield.

This news follows the closure of its existing shop in the town and will see the charity set up in a larger, more accessible building at 108 High Street.

Work has started to transform the space into a shop at the heart of its community – with a huge range of affordable pre-loved goods, clothes and collectables.

The shop will also have accessible facilities including a changing room.

Demelza is looking for volunteers to help staff the shop and is also appealing to local people to support the opening of the shop by donating stock.

It was 20 years ago this year that Demelza opened its original shop in the town and the charity has always been very well supported by local people.

It is hoped the shop will open to the public in the autumn.

Demelza’s Deputy Director of Retail, Gemma Cruttenden, said: “We’re really excited to be opening a new shop in the heart of Heathfield.

“It’s a really important space for us – there’s a fantastic community here and we’re really looking forward to being part of it in an even bigger way.

“We would encourage anyone who’s interested in volunteering to find out more about the different opportunities we have for them – there’s no minimum amount of time you can offer so do get in touch to find out more.”

Please email volunteering@demelza.org.uk to find out more about volunteering.
