Demelza welcomes High Sheriff of Kent in for tour of site

High Sheriff of Kent Martin Lukehurst with Lavinia Jarrett

The new High Sheriff of Kent has visited Demelza to meet staff and have a tour of the facilities.

Martin Lukehurst, who runs the Sittingbourne and Rainham-based furniture company Lukehurst, visited the hospice yesterday (Thursday).

He was appointed to the position of High Sheriff at a ceremony at Rochester Cathedral in April, replacing Jonathan Neame.

Mr Lukehurst met with Demelza CEO Lavinia Jarrett and Deputy CEO Hayley Richardson at the Sittingbourne site to learn more about the charity and the support we provide to children with serious or life-limiting conditions and their families.

He then had a tour of the site.

The High Sheriff role is a non-political Royal appointment for every county in the UK. High Sheriffs support the Crown and the judiciary within their county and also lend support and encouragement to the emergency services, crime prevention and the voluntary sector.
