Demelza hosts football match at Chatham Town
Demelza has hosted its first ever football tournament at Chatham Town Football Club.
The inaugural event took place at the Bauvill Stadium on Maidstone Road at the weekend.
Four teams made up of families supported by Demelza and charity staff took part in the event.
They played in a tournament which featured a mini-league with nail-biting semi-finals and a thrilling final which went all the way to penalties.
The winning team was led by Anthony, a parent supported by Demelza, and made up by a squad of staff.
Demelza’s Deputy Director of Nursing, Dave Winch, co-organised the tournament with Transition Navigator Paul Packman. Dave said: “It was an evening packed with fun, laughter and friendly rivalry.
“From nutmegs to dramatic saves, the tournament had it all.
“The winning team took home the glory – and bragging rights until next time.
“Thank you to everyone who played, cheered us on and made the day so fun. Thanks also to Chatham Town for allowing us to play at their ground – it made it even more special.”
The event was such a success, they are already planning another one in the new year.
