Demelza hosts festive get together for Kent charity leaders

Demelza has hosted a festive get together for a group of Kent charity leaders.

VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) Leaders’ Network Kent and Medway is an independent group bringing together leaders from different parts of the charity world.

The group is a peer network for leaders of VCSE organisations and members meet regularly to share best practice and challenges. The group acts as a listening ear for those leading the county’s voluntary organisations.

Their Christmas get together took place at Demelza’s Sittingbourne site this morning (Thursday) where attendees enjoyed catching up with each other as well as some festive treats.

They also had a tour of Demelza’s Hill Farm facility, which is opposite the hospice and opened at the end of November 2023.

Katie Antill, the CEO of Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services (ADSS), jointly leads the VCSE and was at the meeting.

She said: “It is a pure privilege to co-chair this group with Robbie Shanahan. We both believe in the power of peer support as it can be a unique and sometimes lonely position to be in.

“You can come along to a meeting feeling the weight of the world is on your shoulders and half an hour later you feel lighter.

“A huge thank you to Demelza for the wonderful hospitality.”
