Katie Stevens
Director of Clinical Services
Katie began her nursing career in 1997 after qualifying as a children’s nurse, starting at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Her passion for holistic, family-centred care was sparked during her time on the paediatric high-dependency unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital, where she cared for children with complex medical needs.
In 2002, Katie joined Demelza Kent as a children’s palliative care nurse. Her commitment to advancing care led her to complete a degree in 2010 and in 2011 she became a lecturer specialising in children’s palliative care at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Katie returned to Demelza in 2019 as clinical governance and quality lead nurse. During this time, she also completed a postgraduate certificate in teaching, took on a project manager role with Children’s Hospices Across London and earned her master’s degree in 2020.
Now serving as Demelza’s director of clinical services, Katie is a passionate advocate for children’s palliative care. She is deeply committed to ensuring that safety, compassion and the voices of children and their families are at the heart of everything she does.
